Welcome to my author’s page!
My parents and I immigrated from Cairo, Egypt, to Ontario, Canada in the ‘90s, and it was not easy for me to “fit in.” The people, the climate, the culture, and the language were different to get accustomed to. However, I was still very young then, so the only thing that helped me cope was stories and my imagination. Through them, I learned about my surroundings, which made the transition more bearable.
Fast forward, I became a mother and while working through the trials of motherhood, I was always appreciative of the experiences that my children have taught me. Raising two girls couldn’t be more my forte, and despite the usual challenges of raising little ones, through witnessing their zest for life and how they see the world, I was reminded of my childhood and what the world looked like through a child’s eyes.
Watching them grow and interact with my husband, myself, and others reignited my sense of curiosity and imagination. It was like getting reacquainted with a very dear old friend. So, one day, while I was getting my eldest to bed, I was inspired to write a picture book. Her silliness and quick-witted attitude inspired my first book, Pretty Please with Cheese, and somehow, my inspiration took a life of its own.
Pretty Please With Cheese

A picture book filled with whimsical and vibrant illustrations that celebrate diversity, family, and all the unique aspects of life.
This book is inspired by my daughter, Naveen.
As any parent knows, toddlers seem to get their second wind right at bedtime, and no two nights are the same. Pretty Please with Cheese is a delightful story of a rambunctious preschool girl, Naveen, and her toy bunny companion, who are not ready to turn in for the night. She takes a trip through her imagination to find reasons to avoid sleep. There are too many exciting things to do, like taking a deep sea dive for a treasure hunt, attending a princess ball on a rainbow bridge, or becoming a lion as her toy bunny watches while on safari.
Will Naveen be able to avoid bedtime? Pretty please with cheese?
